Zynga buys Five Mobile, crosses the border to create Zynga Toronto

You heard that right: Zynga has purchased its 15th company in just 13 months, Toronto-based Five Mobile. The Canadian mobile app developer will now be known as Zynga Toronto, and will bring a number of its assets and intellectual property into the FarmVille maker's stable of games. While financial details of the deal haven't been disclosed, what we do know is that the new studio will be led by Five Mobile founders Ameet Shah, Jeff Zakrzewski, Oliver Tabay, and Troy Hubman.

Shah, likely the manager of Zynga Toronto, will report to Zynga mobile team head David Ko. Zynga has been all about mobile recently with the releases of Hanging with Friends and CityVille Hometown, and rightfully so. Mobile games were just found to be the most popular type of app.

Zynga buys Five Mobile
Not to mention how many competitors it has in mobile already from Playdom to EA and Japanese companies like Gree and DeNA. And if these Canadian developers are capable of anything like what Frima Studio did with Pocket God on Facebook, color us very, very excited for Zynga Toronto's work.

What do you hope Zynga plans to do with Five Mobile specifically? Does Zynga have a chance of winning the mobile race?
